About me

Since I was a child I have been intrigued with food and flavours. I have always considered myself privileged to have food on my table.

As part of my childhood’s memories, I recall my parents house smelling to home made soup, cooked beans, traditional dishes, recently baked orange cake and biscuits. During Christmas season we couldn’t wait to enjoy the my Mum's pasta, apple salad with home made mayo and the deliciously marinated pork leg.

My Dad always cooked the most perfect fried eggs. It took me some time and practice to make them like him. I also learnt the importance of using a good pan to cook them well.

I still remember my beloved Grandma preparing what I considered to be an exotic combination of avocado with tomato sauce and mayo. It tasted good! She liked cooking capirotada, which is a traditional Mexican food similar to bread pudding.

It was until my early twenties that I started cooking in my own kitchen. I also began collecting cooking magazines and books, and experimenting with flavours.

My greatest pleasure is preparing food for my family and friends as well as sharing the experience with them. I enjoy tasting every flavour, trying new food and discovering the way a new ingredient can change a whole dish.

When I cook I like to improvise. I am glad that 90% of the times I get a result that I like.

I enjoy the whole journey from cooking to eating and I must say I have become a foodie!
